[The Nicks Fix]

May 27, 1998: Hartford Meadows, Hartford, CT
opening night of the tour
from Al Chapman
WHAT A SHOW!!! The Stevie show in Hartford last night was incredible!! She wore a black dress with burgandy boots, she looks gorgeous!! The set list was great also, lots of rarely heard live tunes. She looked like she was having a great time even tho she did say she was nervous after she intro'd the wrong song. All in all it was a great show, better than the Mac show last year. At the end we all sang "Happy Birthday" and she said "Well if I can do this at 50, you guys will be rocking for a long time!!" Don't miss this show!! By the way, at the concert site you should see the Best Buy posters, they are great they are 24"x36" and have the new promo shot of Stevie (the B&W shot with her hand in her hair and the cross) and says "Best Buy Presents: Stevie Nicks, The Enchanted Tour" they aren't for sale, but you should be able to "pick one up" ;) do it quick, cuz they go fast!!! I got mine!!! Here's the setlist: By the way, there were no tourbooks, maybe later on the tour!! I need one!!!

Stevie Nicks' return to Hartford was a triumph for the singer and her fans, and a revelation for newer audience members. This had to be the best opening night performance I have ever witnessed Stevie give, and this was # 4 for me. I have seen her about 13 times since 1979, and already the "Enchanted Tour" has become one of the greatest Stevie concerts ever. Noteworthy especially for the vibrant selection of previously un-sung in concert songs, Stevie showed impeccable prescence, timing, and was in great voice.

Sad to ruin any surprises for those about to see the tour, but one peak moment was when Stevie sang the long-needed-to-be-sung-live "Sleeping Angel" with such authority as to suggest it become a new anthem for her - She and the band played with the arrangement a bit and sort of streamlined the song, to maximum effect. "Twisted" was amazing in that it varied from both the soundtrack and the box set version- the ending Stevie performed on "Twisted" was decidedly of a jazz-blues influence, with some of the 70's "Rhiannon" feeling added. The song, and her performance of it, was breathtaking. She was in such admirable command in her realization of giving a fresh, vital concert during the entire performance, that one realized this tour is perhaps the "time capsule" performance of her best work as a songwriter. "Garbo", "After The Glitter Fades", and "Rose Garden" showcased her skills brilliantly. And after that trilogy, "Rose Garden" segued into the stirring "Sleeping Angel" and the concert was etched permanently in my mind as a great night of triumph for Stevie.

"Rhiannon", as always, was a great Stevie flawless and fun, with a few nice new touches -- she clearly has fine-tuned and improved upon "I Need to Know" thru the years (tho she always sang the song great, of course). "Gold and Braid" was a crowd pleaser, as was "Enchanted". "Gold Dust Woman" was tight, and perfect. Her traditional opening numbers - "Outside the Rain/Dreams" kicked off the concert, but after that, the surprises of what she would sing next, (which included great versions of "Landslide" and "Stand Back")` and great backing band dominated the show.

After one big ovation, she sang "you make me feel so young" to the audience, which drew more cheers, and near the end of the show, she told everyone to "Remember to always party and listen to music"..

As this "review" gets longer, after having mentioned many of the key moments for me, I will add, somewhat superficially, but admiringly, that Stevie looked stunning. She was THIN, her face and hair were perfect, and she, to me, has refined and improved upon her legendary stage-apparel, looking more naturally beautiful than ever. As i said earlier, having seen Stevie in concert A LOT since 1979, I feel, not as an expert, but as a fan, that this tour is perhaps her most ambitious ever. It was a lengthy show. She had moments where her well-known stage persona went to places rarely seen before. It was a fully realized, ultra-professional stage show start to finish, yet there was an air of spontaneity, as well as a feeling that these songs were a retrospective she has been waiting a long time to perform. And clearly the huge crowd was with her all the way. Boz Scaggs did a good opening set, but the night clearly was all about Stevie...And for those going to shows in the next few days, the light blue t-shirt with her next to the 'blue lamp' is a must have!!! Don't miss this tour!! Its everything we have been wanting in a Stevie Nicks tour, and "Whole Lotta Trouble" is back in the set, along with a great new version of "Edge of 17", and her 2nd encore, "Has Anyone Ever Written'. Stevie Nicks gave one of her greatest-ever solo performances in Hartford on May 27th, 1998, and those of you with tickets for her next shows are in for an incredible evening.

Just got back from the Hartford show, and please believe me when I say if you don't have a ticket yet to the Enchanted tour, RUN, don't walk, to get one! Beg, borrow, but get one. Stevie is back in all her sweetness and beauty and magic, and I can honestly say that out of all the concerts I have ever seen in my life, this was the most amazing, ever. Imagine a stage festooned with draperies and garlands of flowers all around, and lighting that is absolutely spectacular and will take your breath away. I am not waxing poetic, I'm serious. Stevie's band was jamming. This is what white-hot rock and roll is all about. Everyone onstage was having a great time, and the chemistry between Stevie and all her band members is amazing. Everyone was smiling and having a good time, including Stevie herself. She danced and grooved and never lost her energy, and the audience just fed off of it. They also did an acoustic set with gorgeous harmonies for a couple of songs including Garbo and Rose Garden. Considering that they were THAT great their first time out, the rest of the tour will definitely be worth everyone's while to go see. It doesn't matter if you have to settle for bringing your binocs or not, I guarantee you that you will have an absolute, 1000 % great time. Go!!!!

from Bert (LawyerMac)
Stevie is deifinitely back!! She was amazing. Here is my review and description of my (first) Stevie concert experience. I entered Meadows Music Theatre from the parking lot, observing the crowd, which had lots of older fans like me and some youunger ones. There were many more women than men from what I could see, even though there were lots of couples. There were also large number (for a concert like this) of kids - 8,10,12. A new generation of fans!

Meadows Music Theatre is an amazing (there I go again with that word) facility with a permanent sound system. Opening act Boz Scaggs himself was playing guitar through just a tiny little amp about the size of the one I use for my synthesizer, but the sound was great. You can also hear bass and drums through the system really well. Boz and his band (by the way, they were pretty tight, too) played for about 40 minutes in front of a set of black curtains behind which I guessed (correctly) was Stevie's set-up. Anyway, the crowd took awhile to filter in, and Boz started promptly at 8. So, get to your seats early on this tour!

Boz looks older (even children get older...!) but still can sing and play. His voice hasn't really changed much over the years. Given the short time frame, he mostly played the hits, Back In My Arms, Look What you've Done To me, Lowdown, Lido Shuffle, but i think the centerpiece was a long, soulful rendition of his very first 'name' song, Loan Me A Dime, on which his band proved they can play. They also did an encore of Against the Tide (I don't know all the titles, so I may be getting some of them wrong). Dynamite backup vocalists in his band. Anyway, Boz did well, but the crowd is there for Stevie!

I had planned on meeting up with the Ledgies, but due to Boston traffic I missed that group. (I am not from Boston, I am from Minneapolis, but she isn't coming there and I was in New England on business at this time of year, so it just worked out for me to come to this show) Unfortunately, my spouse was at home, so I was all alone.. for awhile. This was my first Stevie concert ever, and my first rock concert in 25 years since a stadium show with Crosby, Stills & Nash and Santana! I got to my aisle seat (not too close - not too far - 18th row.) and discovered that the two people next to me were well known posters on the AOL board that I had chatted with many times before! While Boz was playing, they gave me the hot dish - one had snuck into the soundcheck Monday and had also met our birthday girl!

Boz finished up and got a nice response while people were still coming in (get there early, people!) and then there was a short break while the road crew got everything ready. Lots of folks went out to buy a beer or whatever, souvenirs (no tourbooks at the first show, people, just t-shirts and souvenirs - not even posters, but they do have the stuff for the Best Buy CD's). Then, not too much later in the break, the crew took down the black curtains and we got to see her set, which looks like a four poster canopied bed from the side, sort of, with a huge fan in a Tiffany-style design in the back that is used as a lighting backdrop. Stevie is very visual, of course, and alsways pays attention to graphic and visual details. The 'four-poster' part is a pastel-pink/mauve. Black chiffon streamers on her microphone, as usual. Soon the intro music started playing - this time, she has chosen another memorable man in her life, Don Henley - they played "The End of The Innocence" (LOL) and another song or two that I didn't know. Then the band came out, lights lowered, and Christopher Nicks came out and read the dictionary definition of the word "enchanted." Boy did that hit the money, in retrospect. Then he introduced Stevie, went off stage right and hugged her as she went on stage, to an on-their-feet , screaming crowd!

She looked wonderful and beautiful in a black dress, straight hair (very much what we've seen this past year!) and she and the band went right into "Outside The Rain". She was in great voice, powerful and on pitch. Also, the back-up singers were looking and sounding good, and everyone seemed to be really happy. Sharon in particular looked and sounded really good, too. Stevie made hand motions like she was really nervous (hand on heart, hands shaking) but she sure did not sound nervous, even though we know that she does get nervous before a show!) And, of course, the traditional segue right into Dreams came off beautifully. Carlos Rios on lead got off some pretty good Lindsey-licks and the whole arrangement was very FM - even the organ fills! After these opening two numbers, she talked to us for awhile - she actually talked a lot, from what I have heard about her not talking at some concerts... Among other things, she said "Well I can say, welcome back to you, after last September and starting our Dance tour here!" She had some nice things to say about rehearsing there and then they did Enchanted. Stevie danced by the drummer a la Mick during the instrumental portion. Then she talked about how this concert was different - it was the boxed set tour, 'so if you don't recognize a song, that's why.. but you'll all recognize the next song..." and of course, it was Gold Dust...in the special golden shawl. Stevie was very active twirling tonight - she twirled at three separate places in GDW, but did not do the hands in the air deal from last year. She stayed in the golden shawl for Gold And Braid (natch!) during which she waves a finger at the players --no no don't you hide behind that hair...) Then Stop Dragging My Heart Around, with her second guitar player (not Carlos - Frank Simes?) on vocals. She sings to him with her back to the audience.

By the way, the band members in the back are on these really cool risers, too. It is very theatrical, overall.

Then there was a short break while the road crew reset, and they set up for an acoustic portion with pretty much the entire band (except cool Lenny Castro on percussion and the drummer - who is really tall like Mick!) down front seated on stools. She explained what they were going to do and that she would tell a little bit about each song after they performed it. They did After the Glitter Fades, Garbo (with accordion accents) Rose Garden (before which she got lost in the song list and corrected herself) with a beautiful transition from Rose Garden to Sleeping Angel. Then suddenly into Stand Back (or should I say STAND BACK!). This was way better than the Leno show - of course, the strobe lighting doesn't hurt, but this band which was already very tight, really rocked, and Stevie was dancing all over the stage! Twirling and dancing as of old! Great ending and then right into Rhiannon, after just a thank you.(Drummer plays behind the beat like Mick). Killer light show and energy like you would not believe. Everyone standing and dancing in their seat! (or better). Then she introduced the band (see Ginny's page for correct spelling and names!)

Whole Lotta trouble next. It was great and she was in great voice on it. After that was Landslide - no, not Lindsey - Frank Simes (sp?) did the guitar duties - actually did ok, and Kevin Stoller on keyboards played an electric piano solo as on the white album version. The audience sang along and it was beautiful... but its not the same, either... Her Declaration of Independence?

Then wind blows on the set, with wind sounds for a really great version of Twisted. Way different from the demo and even more muscular and up tempo than the soundtrack version. It rocked and was fabulous. Great arangement, and great bass rumble like a real tornado (ask someone who's been near one). Now we are getting to the end of the show, and so you know what is coming... Lenny on congas starts out, the drummer joins in for a solo, and then da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da, and hundreds rush the stage forming a mosh pit about 6 rows deep in the aisles. Stevie is in a grey dress with a white shawl, of course. Stevie is smiling and happy, collects birthday presents from her adoring fans (flowers mostly - she was not taking much else) . She even played around by handing Mindy one of the bouquets as she passed by! Ends with "I know what it sounds like when doves cry..." Band leaves - Wild cheering, out come the lighters and the whole place lights up!. Encores!!!

She sings playfully (noting all the birthday banners that she had been ignoring up to that point) "you make me feel so young". The first encore is that old familiar "I Need to Know", Great attack in the vocal by Stevie, still in very good voice. Finally, she sings a pretty long version of Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, very beautiful and moving, and then that's it, but not quite ... As she lines up the band for the goodnight bow, she says to all of us "If I can do this at 50, you guys can, like rock for a long time". Everyone cheered at these words to live by! The that's it and the outro song plays. It is Orleans and then Song With No Name, both by David Crosby from his 1970 album (another great vocalist and survivor of hard knocks) and I bet she picked that one deliberately too. Then we partied in the parking lot for an hour waiting to get out!

For her first clean, sober and HAPPY tour in 23 years, it was a great start. To all you fans out there- you are in for a treat!

Let me first start out by telling everyone that the moon was CRECSENT! Perfect way for Stevie to kick off this tour! The show was awesome! The stage was well done. Drapes hanging all around and the backdrop kinda reminded me of a web. :) All different colored lights going on behind that thing. Stevie herself was splendid! Her hair was long and straight and she looked really truly very happy to be doing this again. So much so that she even said so! She was talking - did a lot of talking compared to other shows i've seen - and told everyone how happy she was to do this and that we/fans made her nite and that she was looking forward to seeing us again next year!!!!!!!!!!! I flipped out then!! New music for us coming soon!!! :)

The band was together and sounded super! One of the guys that's with her is from AZ, and he was having a grand time on stage! They sang a couple/few numbers in a row in the front like we saw on the Dance tour. That was fun and they enjoyed it too! Stevie's clothes were - well they were STEVIE! Just beautiful!! I also want to tell you all that I recognized every shawl she wore!!! I was thrilled by that! The music she chose was simply perfect!! We heard some familiar Fleetwood Mac songs and we heard some of the material that wasn't really popular - that should've been! - and then we heard her classics! She Rocked! Entertained us with a few spins and twirls - got rockin' a bit during the show but not wild and crazy like in her wild and crazy days :)

During Edge Of Seventeen the crowd went to her/stage! Stevie didn't really take much but walked from one end to the other addressing her fans. You can tell that she was in her glory! Stevie has really graced the stages of the world with her awesome presence and luckily for me she started in Hartford for this tour!! I'll see you again at Greatwoods girl! Enjoy the road!!

Boz went on at 8:00 and played for about 45 minutes, then they did the set change. It was set up with a huge colored arch in the background, and four sections of risers that curved around the stage, they were all outlined in flowers. On the first riser (far left as seen from the audience), there was the keyboards/piano, on the second was the drum set, on the third was bongos/percussion and on the last riser was the harpsichord. There was a mic in the center with flowing pieces of material (much like The Dance) and mics on either side for the guitarists. On the far right were two mics for Sharon and Mindy. Before she took the stage a man came out and read the definition of enchanted for us. I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was very cool.

Stevie took the stage around 9:20. She was wearing a tight black bodice thing (pretty low cut) with the traditional long black chiffon skirt. She had long sleeves which were black, but had some sparkles, so that when the light hit her, she glittered. Now for the boots...of course, her traditional trademark boots in red/rust color!

Outside the Rain rocked, she sang it beautifully, and it went right into Dreams. Then she said some thank you's etc and went onto Enchanted. She put on her gorgeous gold shawl for Gold Dust Woman, and she said something about taking this seriously near the end of the song. Gold and Braid rocked and also got a huge response from the fans. After Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, which she sang with her lead guitarist, she changed her clothes and put on a maroon long flowing dress (which appeared to go over the black bodice, and tied at the chest). Next, with Mindy and two guitarists on one side, and Sharon and two guitarists on the other side, she did the acoustic set. She introduced After the Glitter Fades and explained how this is how she felt when she first got to Hollywood. For Garbo, she told how this was about all those trying or who had tried to make it in Hollywood. She mentioned Marilyn, Marlena and Garbo. When that had finished, she began to introduce another song, but then stopped herself saying "what am I doing?...I am just so nervous, I didn't do the last song, I'm sorry, forget what I just said..."(or something like that) Then she introduced Rose Garden saying how she wrote it when she was 17. Next was Sleeping Angel which was really powerful and got a good response from the crowd. Oh, and after the acoustic set, she said something like "I have an acoustic set now!" and raised her arms up!

Stand Back was done the same way as she did it for Leno, and Rhiannon was very similar to The Dance. Whole Lotta' Trouble was unbelievable, I love that song! Landslide was done with her lead guitarist, and very similar again to The Dance. She changed and put on a red shawl during this, and went on to sing a somewhat different version of Twisted.

After that she walked off stage and there was an incredible bongo/percussion solo, and she came back on stage for Edge of Seventeen, dressed in a long grey dress with a long white shawl over it. She excepted some roses and gifts (even a happy birthday balloon!) from the audience, but she seemed more interested in shaking their hands rather than taking their gifts. Two body guards were on each side of her on stage while she was doing this, which was different, but reassuring. She then thanked everyone, people sang happy birthday to her, and then she said something like "you know if I'm still doing this at 50, then I've been in Rock n' Roll for a while!" She walked off stage after bowing with her band, and then they all came back for the encore of I Need to Know (which was done very much like the Stevie Nicks In Concert Video). And finally Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, which was absolutely beautiful, and she did the "when they ask her about the men in her life" thing where she mentions poets, priests of nothing, and legends! She again thanked everyone saying how she'll never forget them etc. All in all, it was a beautiful show and she looked and sounded absolutely amazing! She is an incredible, writer, singer and performer and anyone who doesn't know this is missing a whole lot!

Well everyone, rock a little!

from Joseph
To sum it up, it was FANTASTIC! I think this was one of her best shows that I have seen since the '80's. She sounded fantastic and looked very together and happy. I was very pleased. The crowd was also very enthusiastic. I think another highlight was the setlist. It was gratifying to hear some of the older songs that haven't been done since the early '80's. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Anyway, Stevie looked fantastic and wore several different outfits (shawls,coats...) including her red platforms. The band was also outstanding. They were very tight and the new lead guitarist was exceptional.

The show also featured a beautiful acoustic set including "Garbo" and "Rose Garden". I believe there was a minor goof before one song where she started to announce the wrong song: "...hey this is the first night of the tour," she laughed.

On "Edge of Seventeen", Stevie greeted the fans from one side to the other as bouquets flew onstage. There were several banners in the audience wishing her a happy birthday but she didn't comment on them. At the the end of the show, however, she did say "...if I can do it at fifty, then you can rock for a long time." Oh, also, before she left she said goodbye and "...see you next year, next time..." I don't know if she meant to correct herself or what. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

from Anthony Chacon
I got my tickets the week before the show, thinking it was to late to get good seats. I was prepared to sit in the Nose Bleed section, but too my surprise I was able to get row “A” seats at the regular price of $57.00. I even got one for my friend whom was more than happy to leave her nose bleed seat for my seats. Unfortunately the row “A” was not the front row, but the Fourth. There is a “AA” “BB” and “CC” in front that was basically empty. Than seats went A,B,C... ECT. Throughout the show security was pulling people out who didn't belong in that section. Anyhow they were still great seats and we were only about ten feet away. Stevie was great! I was really happy to be among the first bunch to see Her.

There were alot of those Best Buy certificates for a double disc set. I got some for a couple friends and some for those I know who’s St. Louis show was canceled. The weather was great but just breezy enough to give me chapped lips.

I swear Stevie looked at me a couple of times. I was so happy. She really played to the audience. She wore her red platform boots (like the ones on the back of Enchanted) and a black dress kind like the one from the Dance only no drapes on the sleeves. She also wore a maroon dress like the one from The Tonight Show and a grayish -gold? dress. She also changed shawls, and even wore the Gold Dust Woman one from the “Dance”. All her band looked the same as Leno, even her backup singers. Stevie wore her hair the way she did on Leno and the Grammys. She had Red lipstick too!

She sounded great, and very refreshed. Her guitar players did a decent job filling in for Lindsey Buckingham and one of them even did his best to imitate Tom Petty’s voice for “Stop Dragging My Heart Around” . All during the show she kept fiddling with some type of ear-speaker-feed. I guess she had trouble hearing herself. The stage was very “Stevieistic”, with long curtains and pink chiffon and lace. There was no tour book; only a wide variety of t-shirts and buttons. read on for more........

Gold Dust Woman Rocks On
It has been more than 25 years since Fleetwood Mac introduced the world to Steve Nicks. Appearing on eight of the groups albums, and seven of her own; she has had one of the most successful careers of any woman of Rock and Roll.

Last night at the Meadows marked the beginning of a massive U.S. tour celebrating her new Box set “Enchanted”. “I am so happy to be here” said Stevie several times that night, “I can do things tonight that I can't normally do”. The show was kicked off by opener Boz Scaggs, who introduced Steve to a packed audience.

“Outside the Rain" began the show to massive applause, while favorites like “Enchanted” and “Dreams” won standing ovations. Steve sounded in top form; in the past years she has quit smoking. Every note was in perfect pitch, nothing sounded out of key. Wearing her signature platform boots (red) and a long Black Rhiannon dress Steve twirled around while thousands cheered. The first set included career defining songs like “Stop Dragging My Heart Around” (minus Tom Petty), “Stand Back”, “Bella Donna”, “Gold Dust Woman” and an “acoustic segment” with “After the Glitter Fades”, “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden” and “Landslide”. Returning to the stage after a wild drum solo by Lenny Castro, Nicks sang “Twisted” and her mac classic “Rhiannon”. Since the Reunion of Fleetwood Mac, Steve has performed Rhiannon with a piano intro, but still rocks the house with the original version. She ended the show with “Edge of Seventeen” during which hundreds of fans rushed the stage forming a “mosh pit” of stevies, gypsies and witches. The crowed when wild when Stevie walked over to stage right where several fans had prepared a birthday banner for the now 50 year old rock-enchantress.

She than collected as many bouquets and gifts as possible before returning to her microphone for the end of her song. After the bow her band led the whole arena with “Happy Birthday”. Stevie was noticeably happy, and even graced the audience with two encores. She finished with “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You”, then a couple thousand fans started yelling “You Did, Stevie!”

I went to Stevies opening night here in Hartford...and I must say that it was the best show I have ever seen of her....just the stage setting alone was awesome....so Stevie. The Meadows was packed.........

Opening with "Outside The Rain" people went wild....She sang four songs from Fleetwood Mac including "Dreams", "Landslide", "Gold Dust Women", and of course, "Rhiannon". She sounded so wonderful...so strong. She did make one error...during an acoustic set of three songs in which she explained the meaning of each...her life in Hollywood...she was sorry for messing up, and explained how nervous she was.....everyone applauded.

Her last song was "Edge of Seventeen" and that's when the people rushed the stage...she came back out for two encores...."I Need To Know" and ending finally with "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You".

At the end, a band member of hers got most of the 1st section singing "Happy Birthday" and after, she commented on seeing that she was now 50 years old, it goes to show how the fans have been listening to rock n' roll for a long time..... There were many Happy Birthday banners, flowers & gifts..... I wonder if she thought she was going to get such a wonderful response....you can tell that we have all waited a long time for this....and the wait was worth it!!!

Everyone going to see Stevie; you guys are really in for a treat. This was my first time seeing Stevie live and it was AWESOME! Boz opened the concert at 8:00 and played for about 45 minutes. Everyone enjoyed him but you could tell everyone was getting impatient. FINALLY after an hour and twenty minutes, Stevie's brother came out on the stage. He defined the definition of "Enchanted" and then said, "Everyone please welcome Miss Stevie Nicks!!!!". The crowd went absolutely WILD! The scenery was awesome! In the back there was a huge fan and pink/mauve drapes everywhere with flower chains holding them to the side. Stevie's microphone was draped with her usual. Finally, she walked out on the stage!

She had a long black dress with a few sequins on it. She had her reddish platform boots on and her hair was straight and long. She and everything looked Beautiful! She opened everything with Outside the Rain and Dreams. She changed for almost every song(or at least put on a new shawl). She sung Gold Dust Woman loud, clear and beautifully. Then while she was about to announce one of the songs she stopped herself. She said, "What am I doing? I'm so nervous, don't listen to anything I just said." She did Garbo, Landslide and After the Glitter Fades. (Acoustic) She talked a lot and danced a lot, too. When the band opened Stand Back the crowd went wild again. Stevie was having a blast. Everyone was dancing the entire time. Everyone was having a great time. It was a pretty long show. She ended with Edge of 17 then came back and did 2 more songs finally ending with, "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You." She said she'll see us next year and then she left the stage. It was the most awesome experience of my entire life. Everyone going, I wish i could go again!!!

When I arrived at the venue, anticipation was intense. Two radio stations were there playing Stevie’s music and talking about the Fleetwood Mac reunion and Stevie’s tour. One station was interviewing fans, taking calls and giving away videos, the box set, back stage passes, and tickets. Trivia type questions were asked. I was fortunate enough to win the Enchanted Box Set - a terrific start to an unforgettable evening.

It was picture perfect - the weather, the excitement of the concert goers, the many fans dressed in Stevie garb, the amazing music and of course, The Goddess herself. Her brother, Christopher, introduced Stevie. He then kissed her by the side of the stage as she made her way on stage. Stevie had the traditional flowers which she tossed to a fan in the front row. The familiar strains of "Outside the Rain" rang out and our 'creature of the night' was off to a soaring start. No, no one can take her place. After "Dreams" Stevie greeted the audience. "Welcome to my show" A spirited rendition of "Enchanted" followed. Stevie really worked her tambourine and was clearly enjoying herself. She chatted between songs and was very animated. "I'm allowed to go back. This is the box set tour. So, if you hear something you don't know that's why"

"Gold Dust Woman" continues to be a highlight for me. Stevie is clearly passionate about this song. 'No they don't cry out' Stevie did three of her patented twirls after 'Go home' and was heard to say, 'Take your silver spring and dig your grave.' "Gold and Braid" received this introduction, "This song is from long ago and it never made it on a record" A great rendition of the song followed. 'All these years..' Then came "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" - lots of air guitar from Stevie on this one. At this point four guitarists along with Sharon and Mindy made a sort of sem-circle with Stevie in the middle. A trio of songs with a similar theme about the difficulties of fame worked very well. "After the Glitter Fades" - a pure delight. "Garbo" - a personal favorite of mine. "When you're waltzing through stardom, you miss what you lose." Just before "Rose Garden" Stevie mistakenly began another introduction. One of the guitarists tapped her on the shoulder and she said, "Forget everything I just said. I wrote this song when I was seventeen" Needless to say a poignant version of "Rose Garden" ensued. "Sleeping Angel" was next. Then "Stand Back" got the usual rousing welcome from the audience. Stevie did lots of dancing and twirling. She even pumped her arm with her fist extended. "Rhiannon" with a hauntingly beautiful piano intro was next. 'And he still cries out for her don't leave me now...'

At this point Stevie proudly introduced her band and said how musical director, Carlos Rios, had helped her through many ups and downs. "Whole Lottta Trouble" was well received with Stevie adding her dramatic touches. Although no one can touch Lindsey's guitar work on "Landslide" Stevie's guitarist did a credible job. Said Stevie, "I usually dedicate "Landslide" to my father but since he's not here tonight, it's for you" Stevie's voice continues to sound incredibly clear and emotionally charged. "Twisted" received some interesting lighting effects and was very pleasing. I made it to the stage front at "Edge of Seventeen" and the energy level was amazing. Stevie did greet her fans here and receive flowers and gifts. The mutual affection seemed to be a tangible thing. "I Need To Know" was the first encore. Then a very emotional and touching "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" Stevie had tears in her eyes. "You know I'd rather be alone than be without you..." As Stevie tends to do she varied the ending. "Poets, priests of nothing, poets, priests of nothing but always they were legends." As Stevie and her band took their bows, we all sang Happy Birthday to her. Holding up five fingers, Stevie said something like if I can rock at fifty then you will too. Thank you, Stevie, for these special moments and for the gift that is you and your uniquely wonderful music.

Stevie looked and sounded amazing! She changed her dress four times, and they included black chiffon, red velvet, and beige something soft, plus a lot of shawls. She played for about an hour and a half. The songs listed are pretty much in order, but not exactly. Outside the Rain, Dreams, Enchanted, Gold Dust Woman, GOLD AND BRAID (I love this song and was SO glad she played it!), After the Glitter Fades, Garbo, Rose Garden, Sleeping Angel, Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Rhiannon, Stand Back, Whole Lotta Trouble, Twisted, Landslide and Edge of 17. The concert started with the definition of Enchanted by one of her guitarists. The set was beautiful, a fan that changed colors with the lights. After the first two songs, Stevie explained how important the Hartford fans are and how she loved the last few days she spent there. Her first dress change is before the acoustic songs. After Garbo, she starts to explain a song, but then says "What am I doing? I know you understand I'm very nervous" and started singing Rose Garden. For Landslide she said "I usually dedicate this to my dad, but he's not here, so who? I think I'll dedicate it to Albert, you know who you are". Just one guitar for the song, but where the guitar solo comes, a keyboard was added. Edge of 17 was the show ender, after saying "Thank you for doing this with me, I won't forget you". Lenny started Edge of 17 with a bongo solo, then Stevie, who changed dresses again, starts to sing. The song ROCKED. For the "I see you, I see you" part, Sharon went to Stevie's mike and they held each other while singing. She did the "I hear the call of a nightbird" again, then shook the hands of people she could reach in the audience while the band played. She accepted a few gifts. The songs ends, off they go. People cheer like mad, they come back. And I don't know the name of the encore song, but it rocked.

No tourbooks, but great T-shirts, teddy bears, keychains and buttons. LOTS of people had their Dance tour shirts on. EVERYONE in the front stood up the whole time, and lots of other people did too. It was PACKED and people cheered whenever it was a good part of a song or Stevie twirled. I had a WONDERFUL time. I'm disappointed because I left right in the middle of Need To Know, and missed has Anyone Written Anything For You. But the show was absolutely awesome. It was my 1st Stevie show and I was definetly Enchanted.

This is THE BEST Stevie tour EVER! In every aspect, from the gorgeous stage design of flowing curtains and the glass spider web/crystal mirror piece at the back of the stage, the great selections of t-shirts (I bought them all!), and the songs that Stevie performed - everyone I spoke with agrees this is the best tour ever. Stevie looked so happy all night - I was pinned to my binoculars the whole night so at the next show I think I'll not use them as much and then enjoy the beautiful lighting. Hearing the songs she's never performed live (that I've never heard)....Golden Braid, After the Glitter Fades, Sleeping Angel, Garbo, Rose Garden.....this was a dream come true! I have only 2 songs that I wish instead she played others....if she left out Stop Draggin my Heart Around and/or Whole Lotta Trouble (not my favorites), I would have rather heard Beauty and the Beast, but all in all, this tour is the best. I've got 3 more shows to go: Radio City-NY, Holmdel,NJ, and Camden, NJ. Can't wait to experience the magic again!

I was lucky enough to have won backstage passes to the Hartford "Enchanted" show. The show was spectacular, as everyone has already stated, Stevie sounded like an angel, she looked incredible, and I was in awe the whole show. Backstage afterward Stevie met with a small group of us who had won passes through local radio stations, she had to make it kind of quick because MTV was waiting for her to do an interview. She was very kind, very gracious, and spoke with each of us briefly. She signed my T-shirt, I told her that she was a great inspiration to me and that she has always been and will always be in my prayers, she conveyed that she was confident that many of her fans had been praying for her, and while holding my hand she gave me a big smile and moved on to the others who were anxiously waiting to greet her. It was an experience I will always hold dear to me.

The concert Wednesday night was incredible!!! I (and the 3 people I went with) arrived at 5:00, we were feeling punctual that day because we wanted to make sure we didn't miss a minute of the excitement. When we first entered the Meadows, three radio stations were there, but not many people yet. We wandered around taking in the scene. There was a lot of people dressed like Stevie, creating a very interesting atmosphere. By 7:00, there still didn't seem to be many people there and I was getting worried and couldn't understand how anyone could turn down the chance of seeing the greatest performer of all time. Well, it must of been while Boz Scaggs was on stage that people started pouring in. I looked behind me and the whole lawn and inside was packed with people. I had pretty good seats, probably 20 rows back and to the right. Stevie looked great, she must have lost more weight because she was looking thin, and as always, beautiful. The whole night she looked VERY happy and was very energetic.

Gold And Braid, Gold Dust Woman, and Stand Back were awesome, definitely highlights of the night. She sang Landslide perfectly but it wasn't quite the same without Lindsey. When Edge of 17 began, we rushed the stage, as did many other fans, to get as close as we possibly could to our rock n' roll goddess. I was only about 7 feet away from her and directly in front of her and couldn't believe it!!! It was so unreal for me to see her right in front of me, singing so beautifully like I see her do on TV. That was her ending song. She came back on stage and Wes (the guy I went with) starting singing "Happy Birthday" and everyone by the stage joined in as well as others still at their seats. Stevie was glowing, she sang "I Need to Know" and "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" making everybody's night even more perfect and memorable.

This was my first time seeing Stevie in concert, I'm 16 years old and wasn't around for the good ol' days and I missed out on some great shows. I think this show made up for all of them though, there was all kinds of people there, from all generations. I will never forget that night. All of you fans better run out there and get tickets to her shows around you.

By the way, if anybody gets extra Best Buy coupon things, please send one to me, I lost mine at some point that night. Thanks. - streetangel49@juno.com
