• Tell me a little about your history, like where you grew up, how you got into performing / singing.
[ I ] grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. Some of my sweetest memories are of my Dad singing bits of old country songs in his lighthearted moments, and my Grandmother singing hymns as we would glide in her front porch swing. As a child, my dreams were more of seeing the world than of being a singer, even though I loved to sing... so I was ecstatic when the opportunity came to join a band and travel.

Together again - at a recent Fleetwood Mac show

I was singing in a club in Miami when I met the drummer for Joe Walsh, who eventually got my husband and me on a Joe Walsh tour. I was so excited to be singing background vocals for Joe, but I was thrilled when I learned we were going to be opening the show for Stevie Nicks. That was the "Wild Heart" tour in 1984... and this is how I met Stevie.

• How did you first meet Stevie?

[ W ]e were doing sound check one day when the tour began, and Stevie was watching. Actually, I think Stevie listened to Joe whenever she could because she had a deep appreciation for his music and his insane sense of humor. I was lucky to have been in the background, and fortunate to have caught her eye/ear. A few weeks into the tour Stevie asked if I would like to sing with her as well as Joe.

• Confirm what tour(s) and recording(s) with Stevie and/or Fleetwood Mac you were on.
[ T ]he "Wild Heart" tour was the only time I've gotten to sing with Stevie on the road, but thankfully, I was invited to sing on her next album, "Rock A Little".

In the style of "another" Marilyn
Being on tour with Stevie was a once in a lifetime, amazing experience - but recording with her opened up a whole new exciting world. While working on this album I met the head of Atlantic Records, Doug Morris. Doug not only signed me as a solo artist on Atlantic, he miraculously put me with Phil Collins to sing a song originally meant for Phil's "No Jacket Required" album. Phil didn't think it had a place on his album, but he felt it was a very special song... so my first recording for Atlantic Records was a duet with Phil Collins called "Separate Lives".

• What song do you like performing with Stevie the most and why?
[ I ] have many favorite Stevie songs for many different reasons, but singing background vocals with Stevie while she sang "Rhiannon" use to fill me with absolute awe and overwhelming gratitude. I use to sing that one in my bar band at 2:00 in the morning, wondering where my life would go from there - never imagining I would someday be on stage with Stevie Nicks.
